Thanks to the lovely staff of Trinity Christian School in Wanniassa, CARA enjoyed another successful stall at their annual Family Fun Day. Students, family and friends were very interested in the work we do and finding out more about what's involved in foster care. Our cat posters, particularly, generated a lot of interest! A fun community event which offered great exposure for rescue animals to friends new and old.

The best part of the day? Seeing so many of CARA's lucky ex-foster dogs take part in the annual event which brings pets and people together! Thanks to our friends at the RSPCA-ACT, a fantastic time was had by all. CARA is proud to support such a worthwhile cause and our volunteers and pets enjoyed all the doggy activities on offer, with lots of people stopping by the stall to find out more about what we do and the animals currently seeking new homes. We'd also like to give a special shout-out to our friends at 96.7 Qbyn FM who are a great help in promoting the cause of rescue pets locally. Check out David's interview with them below!

Another year on and CARA celebrated hundreds of successful rehomings with it's annual Reunion by the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. Lots of happy furry faces got together as the early mist lifted to reveal a stunning Canberra autumn day. Thanks to our friends at 1206 2CC radio, President Denise Collins was able to share the event with listeners all over Canberra via a live feed. Foster carers and adoptive families had a wonderful morning sharing hysterical and heartwarming stories about our animals' antics and honouring the joy they have brought to our lives. As one adoptive 'Dad' put it (describing CARA's new addition to his family)... "this was the dog I'd been waiting for all my life"... No-one could wish for more than that, especially the lucky pooch in question! A great day, great friends and great memories combined.

CARA was recently invited to hold a stall at the Canberra Vet Hospital Equestrian Open Day & Car Boot Fair and (despite nearly getting blown away on a couple of occasions!) we had a great time. Lots of people interested in the animals available for adoption and some real kindred spirits among the animal-care community. Many thanks to our hosts and long-term supporters, the wonderful CVH staff!

What a wonderful day! The first TAMS Dogs’ Day Out for 2010 was a great event and the CARA team had a fantastic time meeting so many happy dogs out to enjoy the sunshine with their owners. The CARA stall generated a lot of interest and saw a steady stream of party-goers stopping by for a chat and to fawn over at our gorgeous gallery of foster pets seeking homes. Our new fundraising merchandise also went down a treat with lots of people keen to find out just what kind of ‘BITSA’ their dogs might be... Foster dogs Leroy and Bailey were on star duty at the stall and made lots of new friends, with lovely Bailey even meeting a wonderful family who have since adopted him into their home! With visits from at least ten ex-CARA foster dogs, our volunteers were flat-strapped taking photos and enjoying doggy cuddles and kisses all day long. Fantastic event, fantastic venue and fantastic outcomes all-round. Well done team!
